Village Greens Golf Club was born in 1969 when the Gramling and Gaines families and partners formed Mountain Valley Development Company and assembled about 100 acres of farmland between Inman and Gramling. Russell Breeden designed the 18-hole course, which opened in 1969; pear trees from the original orchard still line the 10th fairway.
