Wequetonsing Gc

Wequetonsing Golf Club sits on a bluff above Little Traverse Bay in Harbor Springs, one of northern Michigan's oldest golf grounds. It grew out of the Wequetonsing Association, a Presbyterian summer resort community organized in 1880, with golf played informally by the mid-1890s and a Golf Committee formed in 1896. In 1920 Scottish-born professional Robert Foulis, who trained at St. Andrews, was hired to rearrange the layout, and the routing took its lasting form through 1927. The 18-hole parkland course mixes flatter back-and-forth holes on the lower ground with several that climb or drop along a scenic overlook ridge and a few tucked into woodland. Greens often nestle into hillside bowls, and bunkers tend to flank the holes rather than pinch the fairways. A private resort club, it opens to public play only on limited dates, preserving a quiet golden-age character above the bay.
