About Whispering Pines Golf Club

Whispering Pines began in 1962 as a nine-hole course on the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, carved from the woods by airmen in a self-help project on a roughly $23,000 budget. A clubhouse was added in 1985 and a second nine in 1987, producing the 18-hole layout, with the design credited to Finger, Dye & Spann. It is now owned and operated by the City of Myrtle Beach, the city's only municipal course.
