About Willow Springs Golf Course

Willow Springs is a San Antonio municipal course, now part of the Alamo City Golf Trail, and is described as the city's oldest course after Brackenridge Park, opening in 1923. It was created by greenkeeper-architects Emil Loeffler and John McGlynn, whose work is also tied to Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania. The course hosted the Texas Open in the late 1920s and again in the 1940s, and Ben Hogan (1946) and Sam Snead (1948) were named Texas Open champions here. Its 655-yard par-5 second hole is billed as the longest hole in the city.
