Est. 1971 · Joe Lee (1990 redesign); Stephen Kay (1997 redesign)
Why we love this place
Wind Watch blends Joe Lee water and Stephen Kay drama on a classic Long Island site with a colorful past. The uphill dogleg 18th to a three-tier green is a finisher you will talk about long after the round.

About Wind Watch Golf & Country Club
Wind Watch began in 1971 as Colonie Hill, a complex that turned a wooded Hauppauge tract into a catering hall, a small hotel and an 18-hole course. Colonie Hill had its moment in the spotlight in 1977, when the Long Island Charity Classic brought touring pros, LPGA players and celebrity pro-am guests to the course. After the catering hall closed in 1986, developers hired Joe Lee to transform the layout; Lee remodeled and rerouted holes, eliminated others and added water hazards to what had been a dry, back-and-forth course, and it reopened in 1990 as Wind Watch. In 1997 Stephen Kay redesigned the course for its new owners, the Holiday Organization, reworking Lee's design to make room for a residential phase; his most recognizable hole is the uphill, sharply doglegged par-4 18th. ClubCorp, now Invited, bought the club in 2011, and the holes were reordered in 2012.
