About Lakewood Links Golf Club

Lakewood Links was built as a nine-hole course in the early 1960s in Alburgh, at the northern tip of Vermont's Champlain Islands, and opened for the 1963 golf season. The original layout was designed by Walter Barcomb and R.B. Ellison, who followed a "lay of the land" philosophy, fitting the holes to the existing terrain rather than moving large amounts of earth. The course grew to a full 18 holes in the 1970s. Today it plays as a par 72 of 6,562 yards from the back tees, on Lakewood Drive near Lake Champlain and close to the Canadian border. The club describes itself as a course that continues to evolve and improve with age, and it runs a lively public schedule that includes leagues and a Friday night mixed scramble.
