Why we love this place

Sugarbush is Robert Trent Jones Sr. in the Green Mountains: big, rolling greens, dramatic mountainside holes and a design that helped make summer golf a ski-country tradition. Bring your short game and your camera, and stay for the new clubhouse.

About Sugarbush Resort Golf Club

Sugarbush Resort Golf Club began in 1961, when the Herman family, then owners of the Sugarbush Inn, commissioned Robert Trent Jones Sr. to turn about a hundred mountainside acres in Warren into an 18-hole championship course; at the time the inn was not yet affiliated with the ski resort. The course opened for play in 1962 at 6,524 yards, showing classic Jones hallmarks such as large, undulating greens and tees with multiple options. Rees Jones later recalled that his father wanted the course to be an experience as well as a test, and that routing mattered on such a rugged site. The project helped start a trend of New England ski resorts building golf courses to draw summer visitors. Today the course plays to par 70 for men and par 72 for women, with a full-length driving range and a new clubhouse and pro shop.
