Nine par 3s on an island in Lake Champlain is about as relaxing as golf gets. Apple Island is perfect for a family loop, a beginner's first round or a quick nine before dinner at the campsite, with the lake never far from view.
Apple Island Golf Course is a nine-hole, par-3 layout that forms part of Apple Island Resort in South Hero, on the Champlain Islands in the middle of Lake Champlain. The resort sits along US Route 2 and combines the course with a campground and RV park, a marina and lakeside lodging, so much of the play comes from families and visitors staying on the property, though the course is open to the public. Every hole is a par 3, which makes the course a quick and approachable round for beginners and juniors while still offering lake and mountain views. The golf shop runs a season of club events, including a string scramble, a "Luck of the Roll" tournament and a two-day club championship each September. The course is open from spring through October, with the resort's season.
