Ashland Golf Club began in 1921 when five local businessmen set out to bring golf to their small Ohio town. It opened as the Country Club of Ashland, with its first nine holes in 1923 designed by Scottish architect Willie Park Jr. The course grew to 18 holes on 143 acres of former farmland in 1973. The club switched from private to public in 2013 and celebrated its centennial in 2023, an anniversary the Ohio House recognized by resolution.
