About Belmont Golf Course & Recreation Center
Designed by A.W. Tillinghast for Hermitage Country Club, which moved to the site in 1916, the course hosted the 1949 PGA Championship, won by Sam Snead. It is still the only major championship played in Virginia. Henrico County bought it in 1977 and renamed it Belmont. After a renovation led by First Tee – Greater Richmond, it reopened in 2021 with a 12-hole course, a six-hole par-3 course and a putting course.
