Belvedere Gc

Belvedere Golf Club opened in 1927 in Charlevoix, in Michigan's scenic northern resort country, from a design by Scottish-born architect William "Willie" Watson begun in 1925. Watson routed 18 holes through a pair of breezy valleys just south of town, reportedly using teams of horses and scores of laborers to move the land largely by hand. The result is a walkable, classically styled course prized by purists and hickory-golf enthusiasts for its untouched character. Belvedere became one of Michigan's great tournament venues, hosting the Michigan Amateur 39 times, and it drew golf's biggest names over the decades, from Walter Hagen and Gene Sarazen to Ben Hogan and Sam Snead. It is perhaps best known as a boyhood favorite of Hall of Famer Tom Watson, who played it often while his family summered in Charlevoix. The club celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2025.
