TPC Harding Park

TPC Harding Park opened in 1925 on a 163-acre peninsula along the shores of Lake Merced in southwest San Francisco. Designed by Willie Watson and Sam Whiting, who also shaped the neighboring Olympic Club Lake course, the tree-lined muni is owned by the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department and named for President Warren G. Harding. After decades of neglect left it worn by the 1990s, a major 2002-2003 restoration returned it to championship condition. The revival brought a remarkable run of elite events: the 2005 and 2015 World Golf Championships, the 2009 Presidents Cup, three Charles Schwab Cup Championships, and, most notably, the 2020 PGA Championship won by Collin Morikawa. Yet it remains a public course, where everyday golfers can walk the same fairways as major champions.
