The Carolina Country Club opened in 1984 as the centerpiece of a master-planned, gated residential golf community on Spartanburg's southeast side, co-developed by industrialist Roger Milliken and partner George Dean Johnson. The par-72 course was designed by architect Tom Jackson and plays about 6,812 yards through rolling terrain of tall pines and hardwoods with water hazards and bunkers. It remains a private club.
