About Clearview Park

Clearview began in 1925 as the private Clearview Golf and Yacht Club in Bayside, Queens, laid out by William H. Tucker; Governor Al Smith was a member. On June 25, 1931 New York City bought the 103-acre property for $940,000 and turned a private retreat into a public course under the Parks Department. Parks redesigned the whole layout between 1935 and 1940, and the Clearview Expressway took land on its eastern side in 1957. It remains a city-owned public course.
