Copley Country Club

Est. 1935
Why we love this place

A gift to a village that still feels like one. Copley's nine holes come with big Lamoille Valley views, a clubhouse that has barely changed since the 1930s and a story about a fairway that doubled as an airstrip. Charming, affordable small-town golf.

About Copley Country Club

Copley Country Club traces to 1935, when Morrisville native and philanthropist Alexander Hamilton Copley, who also founded Peoples Academy and Copley Hospital, deeded land to the village as a recreational facility for its residents. The village placed the property under a board of directors, and local builder James M. Kelley constructed the course while village board president L.M. Munson supervised the layout and clubhouse. The original nine measured 2,154 yards, a little short of regulation, and the field also served as an airstrip, which the club believes made it one of the only combined airport and golf course sites of its day. George Clewes of Randolph was hired as professional and greenskeeper, and a season membership cost five dollars. The one-story clubhouse Copley furnished still stands largely as built. The course has since gone through four major layout changes and added a full irrigation system.
