Crown Point Golf Course

Est. 1953
Why we love this place

Crown Point was built by its own community, shareholders and volunteers, and that spirit still shows. It is a full 18 with real championship pedigree, six Vermont Amateurs and counting, yet it plays like a friendly hometown club. Springfield should be proud.

About Crown Point Golf Course

Crown Point Country Club grew out of a 1952 round at Corn Hill Country Club, where local professional Henry Duskett suggested Springfield needed a course of its own. The club incorporated that September and sold shares at $50 each to raise about $40,000. Instead of hiring an architect, a volunteer design and greens committee laid out the holes with Duskett's input, and Geoffrey Cornish reviewed the land and plan, suggesting only a few changes. Duskett then oversaw construction as superintendent, and the old farmhouse on the site became the clubhouse through volunteer labor. More than 500 people attended the grand opening on August 22, 1953, when Lieutenant Governor Joseph B. Johnson cut the ribbon. The course grew from nine to 18 holes in 1959, and a pond dug in 1961 is still its main water source. Crown Point has hosted the Vermont Amateur six times.
