About Dolphin Head Golf Club

Dolphin Head opened in 1974 as Hilton Head Plantation's first golf course and was Gary Player's first design in the Hilton Head area. Player and Ron Kirby aimed to preserve natural features and use very little landfill, keeping the course in harmony with surrounding preserves. Clyde Johnston rebuilt the greens in 1993 and returned in 2010 for a turf and greens renovation. It operates as a semi-private course open to visitors.
