The East Course at the Country Club of Miami opened in 1962 as a Robert Trent Jones Sr. design (with later work by Bill Dietsch), a year after the club's West Course. Playing to a par of 70 at about 6,451 yards, it is the shorter and more strategic of the club's two layouts. The county-run public club opened with Arnold Palmer as its first professional and has hosted many touring pros and celebrities over the decades.
