Robert Trent Jones - Hampton Cove

The northernmost stop on Alabama's Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, Hampton Cove opened in 1992 with 54 holes just outside Huntsville. Its signature layout is the River Course, laid across the Flint River floodplain on former soybean fields and famous as the only Robert Trent Jones design in the world built without a single bunker; instead, water guards sixteen holes and giant native oaks frame tight landing areas. The companion Highlands Course takes the opposite tack, evoking traditional Scottish links with rolling ground, thousands of Japanese black pines, and bent-grass greens. A par-54 Short Course rounds out the property. Together they showcase the range of the Trail's philosophy, from throwback minimalism to windswept links, on accessible daily-fee terms.
