English Turn

English Turn Golf & Country Club opened in 1988 on a historic bend of the Mississippi River southeast of downtown New Orleans, taking its name from that storied loop in the river. Jack Nicklaus designed the par-72 Signature course specifically to host professional golf, and it delivered immediately, staging the PGA Tour's New Orleans event beginning with the 1989 USF&G Classic. The course served as the tournament's home through 2004, and returned once more in 2006 after Hurricane Katrina. Water is the defining feature, coming into play on the great majority of holes, and the layout is capped by demanding closing stretches typical of Nicklaus championship design. Just fifteen minutes from the French Quarter, English Turn pairs a genuine Tour test with easy access to one of America's most distinctive cities.
