Gearhart Golf Links

Gearhart Golf Links traces its roots to the Oregon coast in the late nineteenth century, when visitors familiar with the game in Britain laid out a handful of holes across the seaside meadows near the mouth of the Necanicum River. Formally dated to 1892, Gearhart is widely regarded as one of the oldest continuously operating courses in the Pacific Northwest, and among the oldest west of the Mississippi River. The front nine came first, with the layout expanded to eighteen holes by the 1910s. True to its links heritage, the course rolls over firm, sandy coastal ground shaped by wind and dune rather than heavy earthmoving. Generations of Oregon golfers have grown up on its fairways, and the club celebrates a deep, well-documented history that ties the region's golfing culture back to the game's earliest American days.
