About Heron Lakes Great Blue

The Great Blue is the championship course at Heron Lakes, the City of Portland's municipal 36-hole facility run by Portland Parks & Recreation. Designed by Robert Trent Jones II and completed in 1992, it was modeled after links-style courses with Scottish-style mounding and is considered among the most challenging public tests in Portland. It is named for the great blue heron rookery on the property, part of the former Vanport site along the Columbia Slough.
