About Heron Lakes

The Greenback is the original course at Heron Lakes, a City of Portland municipal 36-hole facility operated by Portland Parks & Recreation. Designed by Robert Trent Jones II, the first 18 holes and clubhouse opened in 1971 as West Delta Park Golf Course. The parkland-style Greenback is a flexible, welcoming layout with elevated, bunker-framed greens and several ponds. The site was once part of Vanport, a wartime housing city destroyed by flooding in 1948.
