Grand Cypress Golf Club opened in Orlando in 1984 with Jack Nicklaus's original North and South nines, later expanded by the East nine and, in 1988, the standalone eighteen-hole New Course, the design most closely tied to this listing. The New Course is Nicklaus's affectionate tribute to the Old Course at St Andrews, the birthplace of golf: trees are minimal, low stone walls appear here and there, deep pot bunkers lurk in the fairways, and expansive double greens echo the original Scottish links. Firm, rolling turf and constant wind invite the bump-and-run creativity that defines links play, a rare feel in central Florida. Together the 45 Nicklaus-designed holes have long made Grand Cypress a marquee Orlando golf destination, with the New Course standing out as its most distinctive experience.
