Hammock Beach Resorts

The Ocean Course opened in 2000 as a Jack Nicklaus Signature design and quickly became the centerpiece of Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast. Set directly along the Atlantic shoreline, it routes six holes hard against the ocean while the rest wind through wetlands and lakes just inland. The layout carries Nicklaus hallmarks: demanding par 4s closing each nine, reachable but risky par 5s, and greens that vary widely in size and shape. Its testing four-hole stretch along the water has earned the nickname the Bear Claw. After Hurricane Matthew damaged the coastline in 2016, the course underwent an extensive restoration by Nicklaus Design and reopened, reinforcing its standing as one of Florida's premier oceanfront resort courses.
