About Hilton Head National Golf Club

Hilton Head National opened on November 1, 1989, as a 27-hole public facility. Gary Player's original design is the back nine, and Bobby Weed added nine more holes in 1995, designing the front nine with larger, more contoured greens. In 2009 the club shrank from 27 holes to 18 when three holes were lost to eminent domain for a major new road.
