Hunter Ranch opened in 1994 in the oak-covered hills of Paso Robles wine country. It was designed by developer Kenneth H. Hunter Jr. with Mike McGinnis. Hunter, an oil businessman who also developed La Purisima in Lompoc and Sandpiper near Goleta, routed the holes around the property's large old oak trees, which remain its signature feature.
