Indian Wells Golf Resort

Indian Wells has offered municipal golf since 1986, when the city opened two Ted Robinson layouts on its resort grounds. Two decades later it reinvented both. Clive Clark reworked the West course into the Celebrity Course, reopening in 2006 as a lush par-72 threaded with streams, split-level lakes and waterfalls. John Fought followed in 2007, transforming the East layout into the Players Course, a firmer, classically styled design whose sculpted bunkering is often likened to golden-age parkland golf. Both courses remain owned by the City of Indian Wells and are run as an upscale public resort beside the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. The 36-hole property sits against the Santa Rosa Mountains in the heart of the Coachella Valley, a rare case of a town commissioning two name-architect renovations at once.
