About John P. Larkin Country Club

John P. Larkin Country Club traces its roots to 1909, when local residents organized "Windsor Farms" on land bought from the heirs of a former owner, A. E. Mann. For several years the farm was run by Canadian-born actress Marie Dressler, later a Best Actress Oscar winner, and her agent. In 1921 the property became a golf course, first known as the Hourglass Country Club, and it also served as a training ground for agronomy students from what is now the University of Massachusetts. The club later operated as Windsor Country Club and took the name John P. Larkin Country Club in 1997. Set on U.S. Route 5 beside the Connecticut River in Windsor, it is a nine-hole public course that celebrated its centennial in 2021, and it runs men's, women's and youth leagues and serves as home course for the Windsor High School golf teams.
