Kiawah Island Golf Resort - Cougar Point

Cougar Point was the first golf course built on Kiawah Island, opening in 1976 as Marsh Point to a Gary Player design. In 1996 Player returned to rework the layout, which was renamed Cougar Point. Two decades later the course underwent a comprehensive ten-month renovation carried out with Gary Player Design, reopening on October 1, 2017. That project added length, widened and softened the fairways, rebuilt the greens for playability, and reseeded the course in seashore paspalum well suited to the coastal setting. Winding through maritime woodland and out along the tidal marshes of the Kiawah River, Cougar Point is prized for sweeping marsh vistas and a strategy-first character that rewards thoughtful shotmaking over raw power. Playing to roughly 6,800 yards from the tips, it rounds out the resort's five-course lineup as its most scenic and approachable championship test.
