About Links At Stono Ferry, The

The Links at Stono Ferry opened in 1989 in Hollywood on the site of the Battle of Stono Ferry (June 20, 1779), a Revolutionary War engagement commemorated by a replica cannon at the par-4 12th. Designed by Ron Garl, the site had originally been planned as an equestrian/polo facility; former PGA Tour player Jim Colbert was among the early owners, and Charleston businessman Pat Barber has owned it since 2002. Upgrades around 2012 added Champions Bermuda greens and rebuilt bunkers, and the 18th features an island green. It was named South Carolina Golf Course of the Year in 2011 and plays as a semi-private course open to the public.
