Owned and operated by the City of Mesquite, the course was built by Leon Howard in the 1960s in the Duck Creek floodplain, opening with nine holes and expanding to 18 holes on 154 acres two years later. Jeffrey Brauer and Gill/Williams are credited with later work. A major renovation reopened the course in 2014, when it was named Texas Turfgrass Association Course of the Year.
