Lion's Paw opened in 1991, the first of Ocean Ridge Plantation's four "Big Cats" courses near Sunset Beach. Willard Byrd designed it, and some accounts credit Tim Cate as co-designer. Cate went on to design the other three: Panther's Run, Tiger's Eye and Leopard's Chase.
