Old Corkscrew Golf Club

Old Corkscrew Golf Club opened for play in February 2007 as a Jack Nicklaus Signature design, one that carried Nicklaus's personal oversight through every stage of routing and construction. Set on roughly 275 acres of pine forest in Estero, the course devotes only about 80 acres to turf, leaving the rest as wetlands, lakes and native land, so play unfolds hole by isolated hole with little housing in view. From the championship tees it stretches beyond 7,300 yards with a stout slope, earning a reputation as one of Florida's sternest tests for low handicaps. The course drew early acclaim, appearing on Golf Digest's list of the country's best new courses and being named Florida Golf Course of the Year for 2008 by the National Golf Course Owners Association. It plays as a semi-private, publicly accessible layout.
