About Oregon City Golf Club
Oregon City Golf Club was founded in 1922 by local golfers on the former Lone Oak Farm, with two teams of horses pulling plows to turn farmland into fairways. It began as a private, member-owned country club, and Joseph Herberger of Salem bought it outright in 1950; the Herberger family still owns it, but the course is open to the public. Its own history credits English professionals Howard Beals and R.G. Seon with the original layout (other sources credit George Junor). It was redesigned from 9 to 18 holes in 1950 and is called the third-oldest course of its kind in Oregon.
