Why we love this place

Patriot Hills is a town course with mountain-course drama. Rick Jacobson worked granite ridges and big elevation drops into a memorable round, and the Hudson Valley views from the high tees are worth the trip alone. Fun, scenic and a real test.

About Patriot Hills Golf Club

Patriot Hills Golf Club is the Town of Stony Point's public course, an 18-hole layout on about 195 acres in the hills of northern Rockland County. In the early 2000s the town set out to build a municipal course and engaged a developer, with the routing drawn by Illinois architect Rick Jacobson's firm; the course opened in 2003. Jacobson had a demanding site to work with, full of granite ridges and bluffs, and the finished course uses that rock and rise to dramatic effect, with elevation changes of as much as 150 feet from tee to fairway on some holes. The tree-lined holes roll through woodland on the edge of the Ramapo Mountains, and the higher ground opens up broad views over the Hudson Valley. Carts are required given the terrain, and the Grille Room restaurant serves golfers after the round.
