Point O'Woods G & Cc

Point O'Woods Golf & Country Club opened in 1958 after Robert Trent Jones Sr. was brought in by local residents to route a championship course across roughly 350 acres of rolling southwest Michigan terrain near Benton Harbor. The design became a signature Trent Jones test of length, heroic carries, and demanding green complexes. Its lasting fame comes from the Western Amateur, one of golf's oldest and most prestigious amateur championships, which the club hosted annually beginning in 1971 and for decades thereafter. That long run turned Point O'Woods into a proving ground for future stars: past champions there include Andy North, Ben Crenshaw, Curtis Strange, Hal Sutton, Phil Mickelson, Justin Leonard, and Tiger Woods. Quietly private and richly wooded, the club is regarded as one of Michigan's premier amateur venues.
