Proctor-Pittsford blends a 1928 nine with a 1989 expansion, and it never lets you relax: 61 bunkers, a brutal par-3 9th and views from the Green Mountains to the Adirondacks. A true Rutland County favorite with a loyal, active membership.
Proctor-Pittsford Country Club opened in 1928 as a nine-hole course in Pittsford, just north of Rutland, and the clubhouse was built largely through members' own work. It remained a nine-hole club for six decades; the last women's club championship on the old nine was played in 1988, and in 1989 the course was expanded to 18 holes. Today it plays as a par 70 with four sets of tees and 61 sand bunkers, and its setting offers views of both the Green Mountains and the Adirondacks. The club singles out the par-3 9th as arguably the hardest par 3 in Vermont and the 16th as the toughest par 4 on the course, while the 13th is the number-one handicap hole. Men's and women's leagues and a season-ending "Greenskeeper's Revenge" event keep the calendar full.
