Richford calls itself Vermont's most scenic golf course, and on a clear day it is hard to argue. This hilly, regulation nine sits right up against the Quebec border, offers honest value and makes a perfect detour on a northern Vermont road trip.
Richford Country Club is a nine-hole course in Richford, the Franklin County town on Vermont's border with Quebec, and GolfPass dates it to 1929. The club bills it as "Vermont's Most Scenic Golf Course," and its hilly layout looks out over the northern Green Mountains. The regulation-length nine plays to par 36 at about 2,908 yards from the white tees, with two par 5s of 453 yards and a pair of par 3s, and four sets of tees let players tailor the length. The course is open to the public from May through the fall, and walking is welcome. The Stanley Thompson Society lists Richford among courses sometimes linked to the famous Canadian architect but records no known evidence of his involvement, so its designer remains unknown.
