Rockland Lake Championship Golf Course

The Championship Course at Rockland Lake State Park was designed by David W. Gordon and opened in 1969, part of New York's mid-century push to bring quality public golf to state parkland. Set in Rockland County about 25 miles north of New York City, the course occupies the Hudson Valley high ground near the lake, with holes offering glimpses of the Hudson River and surrounding hills. Playing to roughly 6,864 yards from the tips, it earns its name with narrow, sloping fairways and subtly breaking greens that ask for accuracy over raw power. As a state-run municipal facility, it has long served as an affordable, well-regarded test for everyday players, complemented by a shorter executive course on the same grounds for quicker rounds.
