Silver Lakes

Silver Lakes spreads across 450 acres of hilly, forested terrain in Glencoe, Calhoun County, midway between Anniston and Gadsden near U.S. Highway 431. It opened in November 1993 as the seventh site on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, the statewide public-golf initiative funded by the Retirement Systems of Alabama and designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. Two large spring-fed lakes and sweeping mountain views define the property, and the course names leave no doubt about the challenge ahead: three regulation nines called Mindbreaker, Heartbreaker, and Backbreaker, joined by a nine-hole par-3 short course. Dramatic elevation changes, forced carries over water, and elevated tees give Silver Lakes some of the most demanding and scenic holes on the entire Trail, a favorite among players who relish a stern test in a beautiful foothills setting.
