Sleepy Hollow was designed by Canadian architect Stanley Thompson and began as a private country club on land leased from Cleveland Metroparks. It opened to public play in 1963 and today is a public course in the Metroparks system, set above the Cuyahoga Valley in Brecksville Reservation. Cleveland Metroparks says it has hosted USGA qualifying events and hosts the Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship every other year. (Metroparks lists a 1924 opening; the Stanley Thompson Society lists 1925.)
