Stevens Park Golf Course

Opened in 1924 in Oak Cliff as Dallas's second municipal golf course, Stevens Park was originally designed by club professionals Jack Burke Sr. (father of Masters champion Jack Burke Jr.) and Syd Cooper (father of "Lighthorse" Harry Cooper). The early layout was a quirky affair threaded by hills, creeks, gullies and city streets. A roughly $8 million restoration in 2011 by Fort Worth-based Colligan Golf Design produced new routing, greens and bunkers, earning it a reputation as a municipal gem sometimes dubbed a "Little Augusta." Like other Dallas munis, it was desegregated in 1954.
