Hawks Creek Golf Club

John Colligan (2002 redesign of the Carswell Air Force Base course)
Why we love this place

We love Hawks Creek for its military roots and its value. John Colligan rebuilt the old Carswell Air Force Base course with a shared double green, a big beach bunker and resort-style touches, and the city keeps it priced for everyday golfers.

About Hawks Creek Golf Club

Hawks Creek Golf Club in Westworth Village, just west of Fort Worth, began life as the golf course of Carswell Air Force Base, the installation the town grew up around. After the base closed, the Westworth Redevelopment Authority acquired the course from the U.S. Air Force and hired Fort Worth architect John Colligan to rebuild it. His redesign, reopened in 2002 under the Hawks Creek name, kept much of the old Carswell character while adding new touches: a double green shared by the second and fourth holes, a large beach bunker on 14 and an alternate-route fairway on 16. The course was stretched to about 6,800 yards with new Bermuda fairways, bentgrass greens and irrigation. The city of Westworth Village owns it today, and in 2014 the course received a makeover along with a new driving range.
