University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course

The Championship Golf Course at the University of New Mexico opened in 1967 to a design by Robert "Red" Lawrence, who routed the layout through naturally rolling terrain to create wide, sloping fairways full of elevation change. Since then it has held a place of prominence among Southwest courses, drawing recognition from national golf publications as one of the country's stronger public tests. Its championship pedigree runs deep: the course has hosted the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships in 1976, 1992, and 1998, plus the NCAA Division I Women's Championships in 1987 and 2008, along with several PGA Tour Qualifying School events and the 2019 Pacific Coast Amateur. It is also the longtime home of the William H. Tucker Invitational and the Dick McGuire Intercollegiate, staples of the college golf calendar.
