The West Course is the original and longer layout at the Country Club of Miami, opening in 1961 as a Robert Trent Jones Sr. design (with later contributions by Bill Dietsch). It plays to a par of 72 and stretches to nearly 7,000 yards from the back tees. The club opened in 1961 with Arnold Palmer as its first head professional, and its courses have hosted many famous players; it is a public, county-run facility.
