Wigwam Resort

The Wigwam traces its roots to 1929, when the Goodyear-owned property opened as a small desert resort in Litchfield Park west of Phoenix. Championship golf arrived in 1965, when Robert Trent Jones Sr. was commissioned to build the Gold Course, alongside the Blue, creating a long, traditional parkland layout of tree-lined fairways, fingered bunkering and well-guarded greens. The Gold stretches well past 7,000 yards and has long been the resort's marquee test, later complemented by a third course to complete today's 54 holes. A member of Historic Hotels of America, the Wigwam pairs its Robert Trent Jones pedigree with one of Arizona's oldest continuously operating resorts, and the Gold remains a shot-demanding classic and a counterpoint to the region's modern desert designs.
