The Wilkes-Barre Golf Club sits on about 542 acres in Bear Creek Township that were bought in 1967 with state-funded legislation, which bars resale of the land without approval from the Pennsylvania General Assembly. Geoffrey Cornish designed the 18-hole municipal course, which has been open since 1967.
