Glen Brook incorporated in 1924 on farmland once owned by descendants of Colonel Jacob Stroud, founder of Stroudsburg; the stone farmhouse built for his son John is now the clubhouse. Robert White, the first president of the PGA of America, designed the 18-hole course. Boxer Gene Tunney trained there in 1926 before his title fight with Jack Dempsey. After about eight decades of private ownership, Stroud Township bought the course in the mid-2000s.
