About Pine Lakes Country Club

Opened in 1927 as the Ocean Forest Golf Club, Pine Lakes is the Grand Strand's first golf course, earning the nickname 'The Granddaddy.' It was designed by Robert White, the first president of the PGA of America and a founder of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, and renamed Pine Lakes in 1946. In 1954 a group of Time-Life executives met in the clubhouse to conceive the magazine that became Sports Illustrated, and the clubhouse is on the National Register of Historic Places.
